Former students and postdocs
Dr. Yaojun Du
Completed his postdoctoral appointment in Sept. 2009. He is currently
a research scientist at ICAMS at the Ruhr-University in Bochum Germany.
Professor Will Hodge -- Completed his Ph. D. in August 2008 mentored
also by W. C. Kerr. His thesis was entitled "Exact and Variational
Investigations of Hubbard Rings". Professor Hodge is currently
a visiting assistant professor at Davidson College.
Dr. Kevin Conley -- Completed his Ph. D. in May 2008. His thesis was
entitled "A Dirac all-electron basis and spin-orbit coupled projector
implementation of the projector augemnted wave method for atomic systems".
Dr. Conley is on the faculty of Forsyth Technical Community College
where he is the Program Coordinate of Nanotechology Education.
Dr. Ping Tang -- Completed her Ph. D. in August 2006. Her thesis was
entitled "Computation Research on Lithium ion Battery Materials".
Dr. Tang is currently working as a Software Engineer for Cryo-Cell
International, Inc. In Florida.
Dr. Yonas Abraham
Completed his Ph. D. in Dec. 2004 -- giving a departmental colloquium entitled
"Electronic surface states -- a theoretical and experimental perspective".
Dr. Abraham is currently
a Quantiative Research Analyst at Quantlab Financial in
Houston, TX which he joined in 2008. Since his graduation, Dr.
Abraham work as a researcher in the Molecular Design Group at
the pharaceutical company Targacept (Winston-Salem, NC)
and as a System Administrator
for WFU's DEAC computer cluster.
Professor Alan Tackett -- Completed his Ph. D. in May 1998. His thesis was
entitled "Spacial implementation of the projector augmented wave method for
electron structure calculations", under the direction of G. E. Matthews and
N. A. W. Holzwarth -- currently Research Assistant Professor and Technical
Director of ACCRE (Advanced Computing Center for Research and Education)
at Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Yueping Zeng -- Completed his Ph. D. in May 1997. His thesis was
entitled "Computer Simulations of Crystal Structures using Density
Functional Theory". He is currently a systems engineer, analyzing guidance
and navigation systems at Honeywell International Inc.
