Myths & Truths (Q&A format)

There are many misconceptions of Sailor Moon, most based on the dubbing of the Japanese Anime into the English version. I'll try to address the most common ones on this page.

What's the truth about Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus?

In the Japanese version, Neptune & Uranus are lesbian. When CWi dubbed the Anime, they made them cousins. They did this because they intended the program for younger audiences than in Japan, and so they had to make sure they weren't exposing young kids to something that their parents probably didn't want them exposed to.

Is Zoisite a guy or a girl?

He was a guy in the Japanese version, but he was gay. Zoisite already looked sort of like a girl, so DiC took advantage of this and made him into a girl for the same reason described above.

What's the deal with Fish-eye? Guy? Gal? Neither?

Well, the case is pretty much the same as Zoisite's. Fish-eye was gay, so CWi made him into a girl in the dubbed version.

I'm confused! Are the Stars guys or girls?

Ok...this is going to be a bit hard to follow, but on the Star's planet, they were girls, but when they went to earth to save Kakyuu, they disguised themselves as guys in a band, hoping to lure Kakyuu. Senshi must be girls, so when they transform, they turn back to girls. Phew! Imagine what would happen if DiC or CWi got it's hands on the Stars episodes!

Chibiusa is in love with her dad? WHAT?

Well...Zeus married his sisters, and his aunt...*shakes head* but that's not the point. The point is that to Chibiusa (who is only about six at the time) Mamoru is not her dad. Usagi is definitely not her mom. Usagi plays the big sister role to Chibiusa, making Mamoru the "big sister's boyfriend" Chibiusa likes Mamoru because he is one of the only people who seems to care about her. She doesn't like him going out with a flake like Usagi. Also, it is perfectly normal for young girls of Chibiusa's age to get attached to older boys/men who show them affection.
