The History of Chi Rho
In the fall of 1991, two Wake Forest students, Scott Kyles ('92) and Clark Pinyan ('93) sensed a void that needed to be filled: a campus-based music ministry. This inspiration led to the creation of the Wake Forest University Christian Mens Acappella Ensemble, Chi Rho. The founding pair derived the group name from the first two letters in the Greek spelling of the word "Christ," and the group's symbol can also be found in the seal of Wake Forest University.
In subsequent years, Chi Rho has grown and spread its message world-wide. Touring, ten albums, wonderfully supportive family and friends, and most importantly Christ's grace has allowed this ministry to reach people and places never imagined. Through tight harmonies, powerful lyrics, poignant songs, and sincere testimonies, we seek to share the excitement of Christ's salvation while exalting the honor and glory of God. |
