Misty Copeland to deliver 2026 Commencement address

Ballet dancer and author Misty Copeland will deliver Wake Forest's commencement address on May 18. Copeland made history as the first Black woman to become a principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre. Rev. Eugene Cho, president and CEO of Bread for the World, will be the Baccalaureate speaker.

Schaack wins NSF CAREER Award

Assistant Professor of Chemistry Cedric Schaack has won the NSF CAREER Award to study color-changing plastic and shape-shifting springs. The $687,000 award will help Schaack and his team over the next five years as they study and build new polymers that are environmentally responsive.

Meet Carter Kowalski (’26). 🎓

A double major in Business and Enterprise Management and History with a minor in Entrepreneurship, Carter balanced academics, leadership and life at full speed, from maintaining the top class rank to competing as a professional skier.

Along the way, he found community in the people and traditions that shaped his time at Wake Forest, from Lovefeast to being named Homecoming King.

Next, Carter will begin his career as an analyst at JPMorgan Chase.

What happens when you slow down and really listen? 

At the Elizabeth and Tab Williams Adult Day Center, 16 students have spent their time this semester studying the neuroscience behind the benefits of engaging in the arts for people living with dementia. The course, designed by poet and educator Allison Walker, focuses on building understanding and real community connection.
