Peter Rodriguez named 15th president of Wake Forest

Wake Forest welcomes Peter Rodriguez as the University’s 15th President. A distinguished economist and transformative academic leader, Rodriguez formerly served as the dean of Rice University’s School of Business. He began his presidency at Wake Forest on July 1, 2026.

Pro Humanitate (for humanity) invites us to use our ideas, knowledge, talents and compassion on behalf of all humanity.

Eleven members of the Class of 2026 have returned to their alma mater as Wake Forest Fellows, where they are working across the University.

Since 2008, the Wake Forest Fellows program has provided exceptional Wake Forest College graduates with the opportunity to work in higher education administration for a year. Each fellow serves as a full-time Wake Forest staff member, beginning July 1. In addition to working with top administrators, the fellows participate in leadership development activities and interact with faculty, staff and students to gain a deeper understanding of the inner workings of higher education.
