The North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards state that teachers should know how to transmit knowledge to their students in an appropriate manner and level of instruction. Teachers should understand the different influences in a child's life that affect learning and take those into account while teaching, varying the instructional method accordingly. Teachers should not only teach the content from the NCSCS but teach it in a way that will build on the students' technology skills, problem solving, critical thinking, cooporation, and communication. I will strive to teach the North Carolina Standard Course of Study to each of my students so that they can comprehend the material in terms of their own lives. Over the course of the first few weeks, I will work extra hard to get to know my students both in and outside the classroom to ensure that I take all factors into account when assessing their learning habits and style.
