Teachers plan and use engaging and creative lessons to teach the North Carolina Standard Course of Study in meaningful and concrete ways. They are well-versed in all content areas and seek to identify and cultivate student interests in specific topics to extend the curriculum. Emphasis is placed on integration of subjects and content connections to world issues.
Throughout my time in the Teacher Education Program at Wake Forest, I will take methods courses in reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies in preparation to effectively teach all subjects to elementary students. I plan to make meaningful connections between content and students' interests as well as current events to cultivate responsible citizenship, leadership, and critical thinking in my students.
