Converting the Power Series for tan(x) to a Continued Fraction


October 15, 2005: What better thing for a single man to do on a Friday night. I decided to take the Taylor/McLaurin series for tan(x) and, using Maple, applied the same iterative process I used for e^x. I came up with a fraction which looked like it had a pattern, but I had trouble understanding the pattern. After about five hours of playing around with the numbers and searching google for sequences of numbers I was able to find the pattern. It was a very long, tedious, yet interesting process. Here are the steps. The final result is this
