Week1 assignments

Here are the assignments for the week after spring break (Mar 14, 16). To complete your answer you'll want to read Chapter 1 (Time Value of Money) on the course website.

Monday, Mar 16 (due Sunday, 6:00 pm)

Please prepare a 3-4 page memo on the question whether the Seventh Circuit in Amoco Cadiz case decided the question of prejudgment interest correctly. Consider how you might have decided differently, if at all. Justify what you consider to be the correct result. (Remember please include both a textual and a spreadsheet answer to these questions). You can find the case in 1.4 (Legal Applications). Email your memo to me as an attachment (preferably in Word, with any spreadsheet imbedded in Word).

Wednesday, Mar 16 (due Tuesday, 6:00 pm)

Please prepare a 3-4 page memo on the question whether the California Supreme Court in Salgado case decided the question of annuitizing the plaintiff's damages award correctly. Consider how you might have decided differently, if at all. Justify what you consider to be the correct result. (Remember please include both a textual and a spreadsheet answer to these questions). You can find the case in 1.4 (Legal Applications).
