Important Terms

Interest rate: Percent of the money you will earn from the bank on the money you put in the savings account

Savings Account: Where you place money in the bank and collect interest from the bank (interest is the money you get based on the interest rate)

Stocks: Partial ownership in a company; if you have stocks, you have shares in the company

Last Trade Price: Dollar amount of the last transaction of the day for a company
 
Investing:  Commitment of your money to stocks for some amount of time

Economy: How the country is dealing with products and services

Industry: A group of companies that make the same products or offer the same services
 
S&P 500: A group of 500 large American companies

Ticker: The abbreviated symbol used to represent a company in the stock exchange
 
Gain: You gain when the price of your stock is greater than the price when you bought it
 
S&P Index: One type of measuring the changes in price of the S&P 500 companies
