Technology

Teachers recognize that their students must possess the knowledge and skills to function in a 21st Century environment and use technology effectively and appropriately to enhance instruction, assessment, productivity, and communication with school and professional communities.

-Wake Forest University's Conceptual Framework

One of my main focuses as an educator is preparing my students for the future.  In this day and age the future is technology-based.  Having my students using, integrating, and understanding how to use technology properly is key for their success in the 21st century.  The North Carolina Standard Course of Study not only provides standards for the traditional subject areas but it also includes a technology component for each grade level.  One of the most important issues surrounding technology is proper use and to what extent it should be allowed in classrooms.  In my classroom technology will play an important role in leveling the playing field for students from gifted to the physically or cognitively challenged. When I know that technology can help improve student’s performance and increase their productivity it becomes more crucial than ever to them With proper use of technology every student in my class will have an equal opportunity to learn and be successful.
