My name is Gretchen Jennings and I am an Elementary Education major at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I am excited about my pursuit of teaching an elementary classroom and am eager to learn and develop more! The purpose of this website is to demonstrate my growth in my time at Wake Forest and through my observations in a Kindergarten-first grade combination classroom and a third grade academically gifted classroom. On this site you will find materials relevant to an Elementary classroom including lesson plans, projects, and Internet resources. In addition, you can find my teaching philosophy and the Guiding Principles which the Wake Forest Department of Education guides its students to uphold. As the content found on this website grows throughout my education, I hope that my development into a future-ready teacher will be evident to all.

The North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards (NCPTS) are at the root of my professional development as an educator. These Standards cite the skills and knowledge required for teaching in the 21st century. Please visit the links on the side bar to learn about these Standards and how I approach my career in accordance with these Standards.
