About
Jeremy Hohertz is currently a second-year Ph.D. student of physics at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In addition to taking classes and beginning research in general relativity, Jeremy is responsible for teaching some sections of the Physics 109 Astronomy lab.
Jeremy is a Summer 2008 Masters of Science graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where his research focused on modeling the formation of globular clusters. This reserach was led by Dr. Stephen Alexander. His teaching responsibilities included the intoductory physics labs for majors and non-majors at Miami. He was a past Vice President of the Miami Society of Physics Students club and a member of the Miami University Disciplinary Board.
Jeremy is also a Spring 2006 graduate of The College of Wooster, earning a Bachelor of Arts in physics with a minor in mathematics. His Independent Study project featured simulations of jet emissions from microquasars under the direction of Dr. Lowell Boone. During his four years in Wooster, he participated in Physics Club, Chemistry Club, Scot Band, Jazz Band, Symphony Orchestra, Wooster Brass, Wooster Voice, Ohio Collegiate Music Educators Association (OMEA, MENC), and the Student Music Association.
Following graduation from Wake Forest, Jeremy plans to become a faculty member at a small, liberal arts college. Although his research has overwhelmingly been in astrophysics, he is open to many computationally-intensive research fields, especially superresolution and visualization techniques.
