One of the most important parts to being a successful and effective teacher is providing an environment for the students in which they are able to grow and mature as well as feel comfortable taking certain risks which will help ensure this growth. As a result, I plan on making sure that my classroom is one that is supportive, inviting to students of all backgrounds, respectful of all cultures, inclusive to students of all abilities, and flexible in dealing with students' strengths and weaknesses. I plan on frequently altering my lessons in order to connect them to various cultures so as to both expose my students to these cultures as well as give students from various backgrounds the opportunity to relate to the material being learned. I will also present information throughout the year in a variety of ways in order to accomodate the numerous and widely ranging learning styles that my students might demonstrate, e.g. visual learners, auditory learners, bodily kinesthetic learners and so on. "As long as the differences and diversities of mankind exist, democracy must allow for compromise, for accommodation, and for the recognition of differences." - Eugene McCarthy
