I am extremely confident that my studies here at Wake Forest University have already and will continue to pay dividends towards not only understanding the content that I will be teaching in great depth, but also in terms of knowing how to teach it all to the students in order for it to stick and make sense. Relate the material. To me, this is crucial; the kids better retain information that is being taught if they can connect it to their own lives and personal experiences, making it concrete rather than something abstract. Another aspect to the idea of relating the material is to connect content as much as possible to other disciplines and other material that they have learned in previous lessons. This strategy will allow the students to continually build on a strong learning foundation as well as help integrate multiple lessons into one.

I will also focus on integrating technology into my classroom and lessons in hopes of better preparing these children for success in today's modern, technologically-based world. By often collaborating with their peers, the students will be able to use this technology as a resource for research, for presentations, and even for learning-games and appropriate activities found on the web.
