LEADERSHIP
Teachers lead in their classrooms and school, advocate for schools and children, function effectively in a complex community environment, meet high ethical standards of practice, and advocate for the teaching profession.
-Wake Forest University's Conceptual Framework
I believe that teachers demonstrating leadership in their classroom everyday is extremely important for the success of the students. I will take the responsibility for each of my students learning to help insure that they graduate from high school and are capable and prepared for work and life in the 21st century. In order to achieve this I will communicate with my students about their goals as well as my goals for them as an individual. I will do this through using data to organize, plan, set and assess goals. I will be able to evaluate their progress using a variety of assessment tools every day. Not only is it important to be a leader in the classroom, it is important to be a leader in the school, in the teaching profession, and in the community. I will always strive to improve myself as a teacher, but I feel it is also important to improve the profession as a whole by contributing to decision making in education. Advocating for positive changes in education is also something I will take an active leadership role in to improve student learning. Teachers must demonstrate professional conduct in and out of the classroom while providing ethical principles, respect, honesty, and fair treatment to every student. I want my students to look up to me and I feel I can achieve this through leadership skills.
