Todd Fallesen

I fell into adventure racing my first year of graduate school. A couple of my friends were training for a triathlon, and I decided to train with them. The race itself was on a weekend I couldn’t do, but they saw that there was an adventure race up in Hampton Roads a couple weeks earlier. I did that sprint race and loved it, and ever since have been trying to convince my friends to do as many races as we can afford. I love going out and racing and seeing places that most people won’t ever find, that you’d never see or even think to look at unless you were wandering around at three in the morning looking for that elusive checkpoint…

Christine "The Beast" Carlisle

I began adventure racing in fall of 2006, my second year of grad school. My first race was a Hampton Roads adventure race with Todd and Eddie. It was a new experience for me that was challenging both mentally and physically and I loved every minute. Since then each race has offered unique challenges, great memories and amazing scenery. I love pushing through the exhaustion during long races and have a lot of fun training and racing with my teammates.

Mark Edward Henley aka Quez Harley

I started racing about 2 years ago. It has been a void filler for me, coming from a background in college athletics. I love to train for that upcoming race. Pushing myself to be in shape and being able to take punishment that race organizations throw at you. Adventure Racing is all about the mind, body, and spirit. When your legs want to quit, your heart and mind will never allow it to happen. Completing a race is such an achievement and bonding experience. Being able to race with teammates going through the same physical and mental ebb and flow of a race solidifies and unites racers together on a special determination level.

Favorite Outdoor Activity: Backpacking

Favorite Race Memory: Trekking through a bog in the middle of the night on a barrier island

Favorite Book: A Walk Across America by Peter Jenkins

Favorite Food: Steak

Favorite Type of Music: Bluegrass/Country

Why I can not date a High school Student: Eddie

Blind Eddie with a bad knee Pryor

Eddie has been adventure racing for about three years and is currently a graduate student in the department of Biochemistry at Wake Forest.  Originally from Valley Stream, NY, Eddie attended Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT for four years, earning a BS in Computer Science and a BA in English.  While at Quinnipiac, Eddie ran three years of division 1 cross country and indoor and outdoor track.  Upon moving to Winston Salem in 2004 for graduate school at Wake Forest, Eddie began road and mountain biking in order to cross train and compete in triathlons.  He began adventure racing with a short six hour race with Todd, and has continued participating in the sport eventually racing with Christine and Mark.  In addition to adventure racing, Eddie is also a member of the Wake Forest Cycling team.
