How can special reading teachers support children in Four Blocks classrooms (both pull-out and push-in)?
Points to Remember
•
Be very involved in the classroom instruction
•
Lots of communication with teachers
•
Support what they are working on in the classroom
•
Teach them strategies
•
Build confidence in kids - be active
•
Develop routines
•
Goal: 30 minutes a day where everyone will be successful
Push-In Teachers
•
Be in classroom during Guided Reading on a day when classroom teacher is doing small groups or during Self-Selected Reading
•
Switch back and forth between groups of struggling and average readers and/or group struggling readers with average readers
Pull-Out Teachers
•
Rotate blocks when kids are pulled out
•
Ensure Four Blocks strategies and multilevel instruction during pull-out time
•
