A telementoring project for young women in middle school
to connect, via interviews & computer dialogue, with women role models
who have succeeded in a technical environment. Funded by a grant made possible
from the North Carolina Association of Educational Communications and Technology
and physical space provided by Wake Forest University.
Participants were chosen from Paisely Math/Science
Academy, a middle school in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schols.
The workshop was held on the campus of Wake Forest University,
Tribble Hall Education Lab, January 6th & 7th, 8th & 9th and again
on the 13th & 14th from 8:45am to 1:45pm.
Activities:
in-depth internet research about women's careers, historical
achievements of women in math, science and computer science
computer dialogue with women role models about isssues affecting
women today
developing a portfolio of summaries and reflections of the
workshop content
