Diversity

Diversity is a strength in the school community and in the world.

It gives children the chance to learn from their peers and to break unwanted stereotypes. My classroom community will be non-exclusive and my students will strive to understand and appreciate cultures that differ from their own. I will model important values, such as honesty and respect, so that students understand the significance of these principles in a diverse classroom.

 

My instruction will include multicultural lessons to help students learn about cultures and societies with which they are unfamiliar. From this, they will learn multiple perspectives and gain the ability to empathize with various individuals. I plan to collaborate with the greater community, including families of my children, so that students can explicitly see the benefits that diversity has to offer to the world.
