Guestbook entries:

Congratulations on your retirement, Dr. Hendricks! I'll never forget the winter term course on the history of Wake Forest I took with you in the late 1970's. It gave me a deeper appreciation for the magnificent institution that is WFU. Your love for the school was contagious and was passed on to those of us fortunate enough to spend time in your classroom.

I feel privileged to say that I received the most education from you than all the others posted. I have been learning from you since birth, and now I get to enjoy learning more as you assist in educating my children on how important history and Wake Forest can be - even to non-alums!
Love from your daughter, Lee

Ed, after all the undergraduates you've taught over the course of your career at Wake Forest, you may not remember me, but I was the first student to minor in Cultural Resouce Preservation (Class of '86) and you were my Minor Advisor. (I was also a classmate of your son Jim in the W-S Public Schools.) Thanks for your many years of service to Wake Forest, to North Carolina history, and to all of us who were your students. Sincere congratulations on your retirement!

Dr. Hendricks, I enjoyed a January term course you taught in either 1973 or 1974. We visited a number of historic sights. The highlight for me was a trip to Williamsburg. After a big snowfall, we were able to see Williamsburg almost by ourselves. I join in congratulating you on your retirement.

Dear Ed,

I remember your thoughtful and helpful presence in the Department over my 25 years at Wake Forest, and I especially valued your willingness, as a former chair, to help me whenever I asked for advice and assistance during my chairship.

Best wishes,
Mike

You have been a gracious colleague and true southern gentleman for the eighteen years we worked together. I hope retirement brings great intellectual endeavors, wonderful travel experiences, and much time with your children and grandchildren.
