Dr. Ewing,
Congrats on retirement! You were certainly one of the best professors that I had at Wake Forest - in terms of both teaching, and caring about professional and personal success of students. Your class was one of the most rewarding that I took in the Calloway School. I always appreciated that it rewarded hard work.
Your insights into higher education and "learning how to learn" will be deeply missed in the Calloway community.
Have fun and good luck with retirement!

Congratulations Dr. Ewing! I consider myself one of the lucky few to have not one, but two classes taught by you! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Steve,
I have two comments for you. One, you are the consummate gentleman. Two, thank you for sharing your story about teaching the twenty-year-old child of one of your students! It trumped my story of teaching the 20-year-old child of my older sister's high school classmates, and made me feel young!
May you always feel young!
Warmly,
Sherry

Steve I consider myself blessed with your friendship for close to thirty years, especially during those somewhat awkward first few months when I first came to Wake Forest. You have been a great colleague but more importantly a great fried. Enjoy your well-earned retirment my friend!

Steve,
What an amazing gift to have known you as my professor, my colleague and my friend. As a professor, you always demonstrated care for students. I remember coming back to visit a couple of years after graduation thinking that nobody would recognize or remember me. When I saw you, you seemed genuinely happy to see me and you wanted to know what I was doing. You gave me confidence and a sense that I had a support group rooting for me.
As a colleague, you have mentored me and encouraged me and checked in on me which I have valued and cherished.
As a friend, you have been supportive and encouraging. I cannot go to Malay without thinking of you!
I wish you all the best and I hope I can be at least something like you for my students and colleagues.
