Tree removal
To Wake Forest University community members:
During the week of March 8, one of our original campus Willow Oak trees will be removed. The tree is located at the intersection of Wingate Road and Wake Forest Roads, adjacent to Poteat Residence Hall.
Despite the best efforts of the arboriculture team, it has been determined that the tree has significant decay in one of the major branch unions and cannot be saved. Should a major limb or the trunk fail, passing pedestrians or vehicles could be severely injured.
A portion of the main trunk will be stored within the Facilities compound for potential use on a future campus project. The remainder of the tree will become compost for reuse on campus.
Should you have any questions, please contact Jim Coffey, director of Landscaping Services, at 758-6070 or David Davis, manager of Landscaping Services, at 758-4622.
Sincerely,
Jim Alty
Associate Vice President for Facilities and Campus Services
