Scholarships available for spring study abroad

A new scholarship is available for Wake Forest students who wish to study abroad in the spring of 2009. The Global Citizens Scholarships will be awarded to selected undergraduates studying abroad in a Wake Forest-administered program or through a Wake Forest-approved affiliate program. Students must be attending a credit-bearing, full-time program to be eligible. The scholarship is in addition to existing scholarships that students may be eligible to receive.

The scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit and financial need. All students planning to study abroad in the spring are encouraged to apply, regardless of their level of financial need. Scholarship amounts will range from $2,000 to $7,000 for Wake Forest-administered programs, and from $2,000 to $5,000 for affiliate programs. Funding for the scholarship is provided by the University's Quality Enhancement Plan.

Applications are due on Friday, October 17, 2008. Applications are available on the Study Abroad web site and in the Center for International Studies, Carswell Hall, room 027. Applicants will be evaluated based on the application essay, academic achievement (GPA) and financial need.

In addition to the Global Citizen Scholarships, information about other scholarships available to Wake Forest students studying abroad may be found at the Study Abroad web site. The Wake Forest Study Abroad Scholarships for Wake Forest-administered programs, and the Casa Artom scholarships are for Wake Forest students studying at Casa Artom in Venice, Italy.
