Encyclopedia of Abortion in the United States
Ref HQ 76.75 U5 P35 2002
This book traces the history of abortion through present times. It touches on medical, political, legal, social and religious issues. There are entries on the voting position taken by each justice to entries on each state and there actual abortion laws. There are also entries for all the abortion organizations on both the pro-choice and pro-life sides and also critical people involved, medical terms, etc. This is a very neat and unique resource.

Encyclopedia of Childbearing
Ref RG525 E52 1993
This is an encyclopedia about all the ideas, people, concepts and theories that revolve around childbearing. It provides an alphabetical list of all of these topics and also resources for further study and lists of related topics. It includes pictures, graphs and tables where necessary. It is such an unusual resource it is fun to just flip through and see what is covered.

Databases

Contemporary Women’s Issues
This database covers women’s issues from 1992 to current with the option for the article in full text. It covers a variety of disciplines and pulls from 190 different countries. When you search you can do a basic keyword or author search but can also search by topic (i.e. abortion, welfare, etc) or by geographic region (i.e. Afghanistan). It was really simple to use and offered a proliferation of good articles.

LexisNexis Academic
This database provides the full text articles primarily for major newspapers around the world. It is easy to use and provides a lot of article choices. Most of its sources are newspapers not academic journals, however.
