This is a resource that outlines women and minorities in prominent
positions in various countries. Each country is broken down into sections
on minorities and women and then lists the women and/or minorities
that hold positions of power primarily in the government.

26 European counties. It is divided by country and each country entry

Routledge International Encyclopedia of Women: Global Women’s
Issues and Knowledge
Ref HQ1115 R69 2000
This is an encyclopedia of women’s issues internationally. The
articles are listed alphabetically and tend to be of good length and
full of information. They also include bibliographies of further resources.
While I feel sometimes the simple alphabetical listing can be hard
if one doesn’t have a narrowed topic, this book also divides
the articles into themes and lists them accordingly. An example would
be “Ecology and the Environment” or “Households and
Families.”
Statistical Record of Women Worldwide
Ref HQ1150 S73 1991
This is a listing of statistics on issues related to the lives and
status of women worldwide. It is approximately 50% American, 50% international
in scope. Since one of the major tools of statistics is for comparative
data, statistics are also provided with reference to men, race/ethnicity,
age and history as well. The chapters are broken into topics related
to women’s lives like income, labor, employment, crime and the
legal system, religion, sexuality, etc. The statistics are primarily
presented as tables.
Women in the Third World:
An Encyclopedia of Contemporary Issues
Ref HQ1870.9 W6548 1998
Rather then being an encyclopedia that simply lists numerous entries
alphabetically, this resource complies well-written and lengthier articles
about the issues pertaining to women in third world counties. The book
is broken down by topic (i.e. politics, health) and then there are
a selection of articles pertaining to these issues. This gives a much
deeper understanding of the issues while maybe not touching on definition
style entries of every key term as would be found in a more traditional
encyclopedia.
Women’s Movements of the World: An International Directory
and Reference Guide
Ref HQ1883 W63 1988
This is a resource to the organizations and issues concerning women
worldwide. The book is laid out as a directory with the countries listed
alphabetically. Each section also contains a section that describes
the status and role of women in that country to place the organizations
and movements contextually. For each organization, the entry includes
contact information as well as current activities, ideological orientation
and other pertinent information.
