Education

Historical Dictionary of Women’s Education in the United States
Ref LC 1752 H57 1998
Contains biographical information on female educators, as well as information about significant events in the history of women’s education in the United States.

Women’s Education in the Third World: An Annotated Bibliography
Ref Z5815 D44 K44 1989
This study focuses on the under education of women in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, delving into its causes, changes in female education patterns and the significance of these changes to societies and to women's lives. Articles in this volume lay the foundation for further research by examining women's schooling from the novel perspective that the social and economic outcomes of women's education are shaped by gender-sex systems that subordinate women to men.

Databases

Contemporary Women’s Issues
This database covers women’s issues from 1992 to current with the option for the article in full text. It covers a variety of disciplines and pulls from 190 different countries. When you search you can do a basic keyword or author search but can also search by topic (i.e. abortion, welfare, etc) or by geographic region (i.e. Afghanistan). It was really simple to use and offered a proliferation of good articles.

Education Index
This database provides citations only to articles related to education, teaching methods and curriculum, literacy, administration, and government funding.

ERIC
This is a two part database. ERIC (EBSCOhost) provides citations and abstracts to 750 educational journals and related documents from the Educational Resource Information Center and educational symposium report literature dating back to 1967. ERIC on the web is the world's largest source of education information, with more than 1 million abstracts of documents and journal articles on education research and practice.
