Love Your Body Day
Wednesday, October 15,
2008
6:00pm
DeTamble Auditorium
Do you love what you see when you look in the mirror?
Hollywood and the fashion, cosmetics and diet industries work hard to make each of us believe that our bodies are unacceptable and need constant improvement. Print ads and television commercials reduce us to body parts - lips, legs, breasts - airbrushed and touched up to meet impossible standards. Together, we can fight back.
Join the Women's and Gender Studies Department for a viewing of Killing Us Softly 3: Advertising's Image of Women. All attendees are invited to stay afterwards for free pizza and a discussion.
Love Your Body Day t-shirts will be on sale in front of the Pit Monday, October 13 - Wednesday, October 15 for $12 ($15 Deacon Dollars). All proceeds will benefit Girls Inc.
