Sinéad Morrissey
Sinéad Morrissey was born in County Armagh in 1972, and grew up in Belfast. She received a B.A. at Trinity College, Dublin, studying English and German. She has taught English in Germany, Japan, and New Zealand. She was the youngest winner of the Patrick Kavanagh Award in 1990.
Her collections of poetry include There was Fire in Vancouver (Carcanet Press, 1996) and Between Here and There (Carcanet, 2002), which was shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Award, and The State of the Prisons (Carcanet, 2005), which won the 2005 Michael Hartnett Poetry Award and was a Poetry Book Society recommendation. Her work has been widely anthologized.
She lives in Northern Ireland.
