Wake Forest University is donating residence hall furniture for the North Carolina Baptist Men's hurricane relief efforts.
Furniture will be moved out of Polo Residence Hall today and into two tractor trailer trucks. The university is donating 350 wooden desk chairs, 150 upholstered chairs, 40 loveseats and assorted tables.
The furniture will be taken to the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina's warehouse in Grifton, N.C., located in the southeastern part of the state. Much of the furniture will be distributed in Gulfport, Miss., to Hurricane Katrina victims.
"They do a good job of getting the furniture to where there is a need," said Michael Logan, a purchasing officer at Wake Forest and the university coordinator for the project.
Wake Forest previously donated furniture to the Baptist group to help with relief efforts following Hurricane Floyd. The university replaces residence hall furniture approximately every 10 years.
