Wake Forest University has been named a finalist in the "Innovation and Promise" category of ComputerWorld magazine's "Best Practices in Mobile & Wireless" awards program.

The five finalists in the category will be recognized at the Mobile & Wireless World 2006 awards ceremony May 24 in Orlando, Fla. Two award winners will be announced.

The university is being recognized for its MobileU project — a 2005 pilot program combining mobile phones with mobile computing and mobile services that was the first of its kind on a college campus. MobileU will continue this fall and be available to all Reynolda Campus students, faculty and staff. More information about the project can be found at http://mobileu.wfu.edu.

The awards program is sponsored by Cingular Wireless and Intel.
