The Wake Forest University Dance Company will present its annual spring dance concert at 7:30 p.m. April 20-22 and at 2:30 p.m. April 23 in the MainStage Theatre in Scales Fine Arts Center.
The concert will feature ballet, modern, tap, musical theater, and jazz works choreographed by Wake Forest seniors: Katherine Cardwell, Jennifer Dice, Emily Keeley, Meaghan Lynch, Sarah Perry and Erin Rush; sophomores Anna Banerjea, India Diaz, Kelly Mullen, Jamie Patterson and Brooke Vogel; and freshman Julie Scarpino.
During the program, the dancers will perform to a variety of music selections by artists ranging from Kanye West to Astor Piazzolla. Erin Rush's piece "Tribute" will feature a cast of 12 dancing to a four-song medley of Michael Jackson songs in a jazzy, music video-style piece. Sarah Perry will present a modern-jazz piece set to two songs by Nina Simone. The concert will also feature Jennifer Dice's duet "In Seamless Company," inspired by a fusion of classical cello and hard rock and recently premiered at the American College Dance Festival.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students, senior citizens and children.
Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling the Wake Forest Theatre Box Office at (336) 758-5295 between noon and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
