Community invited to free holiday events at WFU

Wake Forest University will host several free holiday events during the holiday season. The community is invited to attend.

  • "Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols"
    Nov. 29, 11 a.m. Wait Chapel.

    Features scripture readings, musical performances and congregational hymns to celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season.

  • "Lighting of the Quad"
    Dec. 1, 7 p.m. Hearn Plaza (Quad).

    An interfaith celebration featuring music, singing, speakers and refreshments. Students decorate the plaza with a live evergreen tree, greenery and lights.

  • Holiday Choral Concert
    Dec. 1, 8 p.m. Brendle Recital Hall, Scales Fine Arts Center.

    Features the ensembles of the Wake Forest Choral Department. Includes musical performances and carol singing for both the choirs and audience. Music will include works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Jeffrey Van, Gustave Holst and Dan Locklair, Wake Forest's composer-in-residence.

  • University Orchestra Concert
    Dec. 2, 8 p.m. Brendle Recital Hall.

    Includes music from Domenico Cimarosa and Jean Sebelius as well as Samuel Barber's orchestral working of Christmas carols titled "Die Natali."

  • Christmas Candlelight Lovefeast
    Dec. 4, 8 p.m. Wait Chapel.

    Popular event featuring a traditional Moravian lovefeast and candlelight service. Luminaries encircle Hearn Plaza.
