Wake Forest University distributed a campus-wide e-mail Oct. 28 regarding a police investigation into the report of a sexual assault of a Wake Forest female undergraduate student on the university's Reynolda Campus. The incident, reported to have occurred Oct. 21 in a residence hall, involves the female student and four male Wake Forest undergraduate students.
The following is the text of the message sent to students, staff and faculty:
Questions have arisen on the Wake Forest University campus about the police investigation of a reported sexual assault of a Wake Forest female undergraduate student.
Routinely in the past, e-mailed bulletins have been issued concerning matters that could affect the safety of the campus community. The incident under investigation, as previously reported, involves four Wake Forest male students, all of whom are known to the University, and one female student.
This matter has not been reported in an e-mail to the campus community because
University officials working with the case do not believe that the need for such a warning exists in these circumstances.
When similar incidents involving members of the campus community have occurred across the years, they have not been reported by e-mail to the campus community.
