At the request of Wake Forest University and the Forsyth County district attorney's office, the Winston-Salem Police Department is investigating a report of a sexual assault on Wake Forest's Reynolda Campus.

The incident, reported to have occurred Oct. 21 in a Wake Forest residence hall between midnight and 7:30 a.m., involves a female Wake Forest undergraduate student and four male Wake Forest undergraduate students. Neither the university nor police investigators — Winston-Salem or Wake Forest — are identifying the female student or the male students.

The university police department and the district attorney's office asked Winston-Salem police on Oct. 25 to assume the primary investigative role in the case. The university police department, which had been investigating the case, will assist Winston-Salem police investigators as needed.
