October 25, 2005
NOTE TO EDITORS: This is a community service event for children from invited agencies. It is NOT open to the general public. Media representatives must check in at the media table in front of Wait Chapel to receive a press kit and find out which children cannot be photographed.
Wake Forest University's Volunteer Service Corps will treat nearly 1,500 children from 40 community agencies to Halloween fun at the university's 17th annual Project Pumpkin from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Oct. 27 on Hearn Plaza (Quad) between Wait Chapel and Reynolda Hall. This year's theme is "Once Upon a Pumpkin."
Wake Forest Basketball Coach Skip Prosser will serve as this year's grand marshall. Carnival games, face painting, haunted houses and other entertainment will take place on the Plaza. Costumed volunteers will escort children through residence halls for trick-or-treating.
Entertainment will include 11 different musical or performance groups, including the a cappella group Chi Rho, the Demon Divas, Xpress Step Team, Unified Rhythms, the Wake Forest Gospel Choir and the Wake Forest Dance Team. A "mad scientist" will perform experiments in his "laboratory," Theta Chi and Sigma Pi will have haunted houses in their lounges and Wake Forest athletes and the Demon Deacon will be on hand.
