Wake Forest Theatre presents 'Marvin's Room'

The Wake Forest University Theatre will open "Marvin's Room," its second production of the 2005-2006 theatre season Oct. 28. The play will run Oct. 28-29 and Nov. 2-5. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. A matinee performance will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 6. All performances will be held in the MainStage Theatre of Scales Fine Arts Center.
A moving story of love and commitment, "Marvin's Room" follows the story of Bessie, a 40 year-old woman who has dedicated her life to care for her father and aunt and suddenly finds herself in need of help from her long estranged sister Lee.
Marvin's Room" won several awards for best play, including the Outer Critic's Circle Award and the Drama Desk Award. "Death has rarely seemed more interesting or love so complex," stated a review about the play in The New York Post.
Ray Collins, Wake Forest adjunct instructor of theatre, will direct the production. The cast includes Wake Forest students Lauren Rico, Rebecca Kahane, Dan Applegate, Morgan Partin, Reed Pendergrass, Wes Calkin, Katy Slavin, Ann Kashishian and Lily Cottrel. Lindsey Hardegree will stage manage the production. The costume designer is Mary Wayne-Thomas, chair and associate professor of theatre. The set and lighting designer is Frank Ludwig, associate professor of theatre.
