Jewish professor to speak at WFU on protecting children from violence

Charles Greenbaum, the James Marshall Emeritus Professor of Social Psychology at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, will present a free lecture at Wake Forest University titled "The Science and Politics of Protecting Children from Violence: A View from the Middle East" at 4 p.m. Aug. 31 in Greene Hall, Room 162.

The lecture is the first in the Wake Forest psychology department's 2004-2005 Colloquium Series.

Greenbaum, who received his doctorate in psychology at New York University, has been on the faculty of Hebrew University since 1963 and is currently the chair of the Israel section of Defence for Children International, a children's rights organization. Greenbaum's research interest is in the development of children at risk, including children exposed to violence. He studies prevention and intervention programs for children at risk.
