Members of the media are invited to cover freshman move-in day at Wake Forest University Aug. 18. Residence halls open to students at 8 a.m., and faculty, staff and upperclassmen will be on hand to help freshmen and their parents as the students move into residence halls.

This academic year, the university welcomes 1,125 freshmen students from 46 states and seven foreign countries. Most freshmen will live in Bostwick, Collins, Johnson, Babcock and Luter residence halls, all located on the south side of campus near Gulley Drive.

Photographers and reporters interested in talking with freshmen and their parents should plan to arrive by 8:30 - 9 a.m. News Service staff will be available to escort media inside residence halls. Interviews will be available with Connie Carson, director of residence life and housing, and with Johnne Armentrout, assistant director of the universityıs counseling center. Armentrout can discuss empty nest/college transition issues.

Marked media vehicles may park along the sidewalk on Gulley Drive. Media with unmarked vehicles may park in parking lots C or B, or contact the News Service to make other arrangements.

Students will begin picking up their laptop computers and color printers at 10 a.m. in rooms 224 and 225 of the Information Systems Building. Shuttles will transport students back and forth from their residence halls to the building.

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on move-in day, there will be a variety of services offered to freshmen on the fourth floor of the Benson University Center. Students can pick up ID cards and mailbox keys, register for parking and find out about a variety of university services at this location.

A reception for freshmen who are children of Wake Forest alumni and their families will be held at 4 p.m. in the Main Lounge of Reynolda Hall.

For more information on move-in day, contact Jacob McConnico at 336-758-5237 or mcconnjn@wfu.edu. More information about the freshmen class can be found on the News Service Web site at http://www.wfu.edu/wfunews/.
