Philosopher to speak at WFU

R. Jay Wallace, philosophy professor at the University of California at Berkeley, will present a lecture titled “The Publicity of Reasons” March 20 at 4:30 p.m. in the Philosophy Library at Wake Forest University. The library is located in Room B316 of Tribble Hall.

Wallace received his bachelor’s degree from Williams College, performed graduate work at the University of Oxford and holds a doctorate from Princeton University. He has taught at Wesleyan University, the University of Pennsylvania and Humboldt University in Berlin. He has also held visiting positions at Germany’s Bielefeld University and in the Research School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University.

Wallace’s research interests extend to all areas of moral philosophy and the history of ethics. He is the author of “Responsibility and the Moral Sentiments” as well as the editor of the book “Reason, Emotion and Will.”
