WFU professor to present asymmetry research at annual lecture

Dilip K. Kondepudi, Wake Forest University professor of chemistry, will present a lecture titled “The Enigma of Asymmetry” on Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. in Room 102 of the Scales Fine Arts Center at Wake Forest. The talk is part of the annual Hubert McNeill Poteat Lecture Series.

Poteat taught at Wake Forest from 1911 to 1956, and was widely known as a Latin scholar. Named in his honor, the lecture series is designed to recognize and celebrate the many achievements of Wake Forest faculty in research and scholarship.

In his lecture, Kondepudi will present his ongoing research that deals with the left-right asymmetry that exists in nature at all levels, from elementary particles to the behavior of mammals.

Kondepudi received his bachelor’s degree from Madras University, his master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay and his doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin. He has taught at Wake Forest since 1987.
