Acoustic Syndicate a North Carolina band that blends bluegrass, rock, jazz, funk and reggae will headline Wake Forest Universitys Springfest concert at 8 p.m. on April 18 in Wait Chapel. The concert, sponsored by the Wake Forest Student Union, will also feature The Iguanas and Georgia Avenue.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling 336-758-4869.
Acoustic Syndicate has played at Wilkesboros Merlefest and plays to crowds in large rock clubs and theaters across the country. Their latest album, Crazy Little Life, was voted second in radio station WNCWs Top 100 CDs of 2000. WNCW broadcasts throughout eastern Tennessee, northern South Carolina and western North Carolina.
Relix magazine said of the album, Despite the acoustic part of this quartets name, theres something clearly electric about Acoustic Syndicates sound.
The Iguanas come from New Orleans and bring with them the citys distinctive sound of Latin and Caribbean music fused with jazz and blues. Their songs have been featured in movie soundtracks and have been used by Northwest Airlines. The Iguanas have also opened for the Dave Matthews Band at shows in the Midwest and Northeast.
