WFU Divinity School hosts prominent theologian for lecture series

World renowned theologian Jurgen Moltmann will present the Margaret A. Steelman Lecture Series at Wake Forest University Divinity School April 15-17. He will be accompanied by his wife, Elisabeth Moltmann-Wendel, who will also speak during the series.
Jurgen Moltmann is the most widely read Protestant theologian in the second half of the 20th century, according to Divinity School Dean Bill J. Leonard. Moltmanns first two books, Theology of Hope and The Crucified God, established him as a new and creative voice in theology, Leonard said. He has written numerous other books including The Trinity and the Kingdom of God and The Spirit of Life.
Moltmann will present Is There Life After Death April 16 at 4 p.m. in Wait Chapel. On April 17, he will present Nature and Creation: On the Interaction Between Theology and Natural Science at 4 p.m. in Wait Chapel. These events are free and open to the public.
Elisabeth Moltmann-Wendel is a well-known feminist theologian, lecturer and author. Her books include Freedom, Equality, and Sisterhood, The Women Around Jesus, A Land Flowing With Milk and Honey, I Am My Body and Rediscovering Friendship, which was published in 2001.
Moltmann-Wendel will present Friendship The Forgotten Category for Faith and Christian Community: A Perspective for the 21st Century April 15 at 4 p.m. in Benson University Centers Pugh Auditorium. This event will be co-sponsored by the universitys womens studies program. It is free and open to the public.
The Steelman Lecture Series was founded by Dr. Stanford L. Steelman in honor of his wife, Margaret. The series brings prominent lecturers to the Divinity School on subjects relating to Jewish and Christian theology.
