Wake Forest University's student newspaper, the Old Gold and Black, recently won a Pacemaker Award for general excellence during the Associated Collegiate Press' national conference in New Orleans. The award annually recognizes the best college newspapers in the nation. The Newspaper Association of America judged this year's competition.

The newspaper was a Pacemaker finalist in previous years, and last won the award in 1995.

Jay Cridlin is the editor-in-chief of the Old Gold and Black, a weekly campus newspaper.
