Rating attractiveness: study finds consensus among men, not women

Hot or not?  Men agree on the answer.  Women don’t.There is much more consensus among men about whom they find attractive than there is among women, according to a new study by Wake Forest University psychologist Dustin Wood. The study, co-authored by Claudia Brumbaugh of Queens College, appears in the June issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

WFU Secrest Artists Series announces 2009-2010 concert schedule

Featuring an eclectic offering of musical genres, Wake Forest University’s 2009-2010 Secrest Artists Series will include performances by renowned pianist Angela Hewitt; the Luna Negra Dance Theater with the Turtle Island String Quartet and Paquito D’Rivera; the Bruckner Orchester Linz; baritone opera singer Nathan Gunn; and South Africa’s Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Wake Forest University School of Divinity announces new director of admissions

Craig D. Atwood has been named as director of admissions for the Wake Forest University School of Divinity, effective July 1. “We are pleased that Dr. Atwood has joined our full-time staff,” said Bill Leonard, dean of the School of Divinity.  “He knows us well, is an outstanding scholar, and has a background in admissions in theological studies.  He is a valuable addition to the divinity school staff.”

Wake Forest University appoints Andy Chan vice president for career development

Wake Forest University has appointed Andy Chan as vice president for career development. He will assume his new duties Aug. 1. Currently, he is the assistant dean and director of the MBA Career Management Center at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business (GSB).

WFU professor collaborates with alumni to win MacArthur Foundation Award

Two Wake Forest University alumni, Anthony Pecorella and Yuri Shtridelman, along with Jed Macosko, assistant professor of physics at Wake Forest, have won a $25,000 award from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in its 2009 Digital Media & Learning competition.
