Counseling Services
Individual Counseling
Confidential, short-term individual counseling is available for
various personal issues, including adjustment to university life; stress
management; interpersonal relationships with friends, family, or peers;
anxiety;
depression;
substance
abuse and eating
disorders.
Support and Counseling Groups
Confidential support and counseling groups are offered for students affected by family alcoholism; rape or other sexual assault; grief due to the death of a loved one; family transitions resulting from parents' separation, divorce and/or remarriage; gay, lesbian, or bisexual orientation; disordered eating; body image; and interpersonal relationship issues. Other groups can be initiated depending on the needs of students at any particular time. Groups tailored to specific objectives such as stress management, self-esteem, or assertiveness training are also provided.
Career Counseling
Choices about academic majors and/or careers can be explored in the University Counseling Center's Life/Career Planning Groups, offered throughout the academic year.
