Nina Lucas is a performer and an educator. She
is currently in her second year at Wake Forest University as an Assistant
Professor of Dance, Director of the Dance Program and Artistic Director
of the Dance Company. She began her early training at the Richardson's
School of Dance in Ohio and went on to receive her BFA in Dance Performance
from The Ohio State University. After graduation she continued her training
at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, and Martha Graham Studio in New
York, and later went on to receive her MFA in Performance and Education
from the University of California Los Angeles where she produced and performed
in a concert entitled "Nina Lucas & Friends". This solo concert was
a culmination of three years of work and collaboration with Los Angeles
Choreographers Carol Scothorn and Ronald Brown and composer Stephan Soomil.
While attending UCLA she also worked with choreographers such as Shapiro
and Smith, Risa Steinberg of the Jose Limon Foundation, Murray Louis, and
in the L.A. Art Festival's "The Dance Collective" under the direction of
Peter Sellars, producer Neil Barkley. She has taught and presented her
work in Ohio, California, and Illinois.
