VectorWorks Tutorial
Chapter I. Getting Started.
 
Open Vectorworks
Click the 
button on the applications row.
Select 
Lab Programs
   Vectorworks
     Vectorworks

Short-cut to

Vectorworks

Drawing Area
and 
Palettes
Vectorworks will open with a screen Illustrated below.

Each of the Palettes may be dragged around the screen,
or be minimized by clicking on the top blue menu bar.
The Palettes may be made visible or invisible under the Palette Heading on the Menu bar.
 

Setting Preferences

Select
File Menu bar
Select Preferences
  Select VW             Preferences
Vectorworks may be adapted to the way that you work.
Edit Tab

Select
Smart Cursor

Deselect
Offset duplications

Display Tab

Select:
Rulers
Scroll bars
Adjust flipped text
   
Session Tab

Select
Log Time
Issue Warnings

Deselect
Use Sound

Set 
Undos at 20

Select 
Left Palette Margin

 
To Save Changes
Click the OK
Set Scale

Under 
Page Menu bar
Select
Layer Scale...

Select 1/4"
Click 

As you return to the Drawing page, the light blue reference grid has disappeared as the page scale has changed from full scale to 1/4=1'-0".
Set Grid

Set the reference grid to 1'-0"

Click 

Snap Grid
Save File

Under the File Menu
Select Save As

At this point it is a good idea to save the file.

Enter a new filename and Click on the Save button.
