Service Features

Call Waiting
Call waiting informs you, while you are on a call, that another party is trying to reach you. The party trying to reach you hears ringing and you hear the call waiting tone.

Call-waiting is available on all university phones.

Call Waiting Instructions
1. Listen for the call waiting tone.
2. Inform the party with whom you are speaking that you are going to answer a waiting call.
3. Press & hold down the switchhook for one second, then release it.
4. Speak with the calling party.
5. To return to the original caller, press the switchhook again.

The call waiting tone is one short tone followed ten seconds later by a short reminder tone. No further notification is given. If you do not answer the call waiting tone, the calling party continues to hear ringing until he or she hangs up.

Caller ID
Caller ID is a system that displays the number of a person who is calling you. Caller ID is standard on all university phones. For you to take advantage of Caller ID, you will need a Caller ID-equipped telephone. If you have a traditional telephone, you can purchase separately a Caller ID information unit to use with any phone.

The information of the caller will appear on your caller ID screen.
