The Research and Development unit in Information Systems was formed in January of 2001 in order to increase the support for using technology in teaching and learning. Our formal mission statement is as follows:
The mission of the Research and Development unit in Information Systems is threefold:
- To support advanced uses of information technology in teaching and academic communications. This includes developing tools and techniques required to facilitate use of information technology by faculty members in all departments, as well as developing new structures and templates that facilitate teaching and learning.
- To research new technologies that have potential strategic benefit to the university in maintaining its position as a leader among liberal arts institutions in the effective use of information technology.
- To manage the successful integration of personal computing hardware and software in support of the University computing initiative.
